SHARKEY, JEAN AUDREY (RICHARDS) - Jean Sharkey, wife of the late Bernard “Bernie” Joseph Sharkey, occurred on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 13, 1927, she was a daughter of the late George and Thelma (Lowe) Richards. Jean loved her career at the Saint John City Market, where she and her husband both worked, and she retired when she was 72 years old. Jean is survived by her 2 sons: Bernard “Bernie” Jr. and William “Bill”; grandchildren: Jody and Jennifer; sisters: Eileen Woolcott and Joan Straight; brother, William Richards; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 10 am at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
