It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred MacIntosh, 89, of Glace Bay on Friday, July 25, 2014, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Margaret (MacDonald) McNeil.
Mildred was a very loving and compassionate lady who loved all of her family dearly. She was also very fond of playing bingo.
She is survived by daughters, Joan MacNeil (Francie), Gardiner Mines, Agnes Cole (Harold), Glace Bay and her son, Arthur at home.
Mildred was the beloved grandmother of six grandchildren, Angela (Brian), Buddy (Linda), Beverly (Jose), Arthur (Marilyn), Lisa, Michelle (Billy) and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Ignatius, Hamilton, Ont., Gerald, Gardiner Mines, Michael (Florence), Coxheath, Jerry (Terri Lynn), Leo (Marge), both of Glace Bay, Jerome 'Yomi', Mira Gut; a sister, Rene, Hamilton, Ont., and a special niece, Judy.
Besides her parents, Mildred was predeceased by her beloved husband, Malcolm MacIntosh in 1987, her brothers, Cecil, Charles, Melvin, sisters, Johnina, Katie in infancy and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Malcolm Parsons.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m., both in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to a charity of choice or palliative care.
