Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on Sunday, July 27, 2014, Alphonsus Newhook, age 64 years. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (nee Martin) May 29, 2014; parents: Gordon and Sara Jane Newhook; and sister Irene Martin. Leaving to mourn his daughter April (Scott Hutchings); three precious grandsons: Jacob, Joshua and Jaxon; sisters: Alfreda (Wesley Piercey), Janet (Clifford White), Dallas (Calvin Peach), Jane (Bert White); brothers: Herman (Hazel), Gerald, Gordon (Maureen), Richard (Florence) and Mark; special aunt Janet Smith; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; especially his best friends of 45 years Raymond Martin (Kathleen). Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held from Barrett's Chapel on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to be held at Bethel United Church Cemetery, Norman's Cove, NL on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to The Alphonsus Newhook Memorial Fund.
