Mary Hanson

HANSON, MARY BELLE - With great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Belle Hanson on July 27th, 2014 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital with her loving granddaughter Tanya at her side. Mary was born May 7th, 1925 in Hainesville NB. During the Second World War she served as a Private in the Canadian Army. Mary had a great love of quilt making and every member of her family as well as many of her friends has at least one of her specially crafted quilts. Her grandchildren knew they would always be rewarded with lots of fresh baked cookies when they visited. She enjoyed sharing the many photographs she’d taken of nature, wildlife, her many social events and her family. It was especially evident at Christmas by the tremendous number of cards she received that she was loved and admired by many. Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harold Hanson; sons Allen Reynolds (Brenda) of Oshawa, ON, Charles Hanson (Bonnie) of Greenhill Lake, NB; a daughter Ann McGivery of Fredericton, NB; a sister Sadie Burtt (Ralph) of Fredericton, NB; a brother, Andrew Reynolds of Greenhill Lake, NB and a sister-in-law, Elnora Reynolds of Temperance Vale, NB. Mary is also survived by nine granddaughters, Julie Jennings, Tanya Hanson, Jennifer McGivery, Brandi Perera, Amanda McGivery, Miranda Robinson, Jacqueline Russell, Erin Allison and Jillian Powell and three grandsons, Mark Reynolds, James Reynolds and Gordon Hanson and 14 great-grandchildren, seven nieces and four nephews. She was predeceased by her parents James and Mossie Reynolds, brothers, Benjamin and Howard Reynolds and infant Joseph; sisters Annie Houghton and infant Martha; a brother-in-law Albert; a son Joseph and a daughter Kathryn.
Although there will be no visitation, friends are welcome to attend a funeral service to be held at Lakeside Chapel, 40 Greenhill Lake, NB on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Fournier officiating. Interment at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Mary, the family has suggested the Canadian Cancer Society.
