Brannen, Shurben "Lowell" - 84 of Stoney Island, Shelburne County, NS passed away peacefully at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on July 24th, 2014 with his family and loving wife Florence H. (Nickerson) at his side. He was born June 2nd, 1930 and was the son of the late Clifford and Ruth (Ross) Brannen.
Lowell worked on the ocean making a living lobstering & fishing and as captain of the C.S.J. until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at his camp in Caledonia, deer hunting and playing cards with friends. His quick wit, sense of humour and great tendency to tease will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Along with Florence, his wife of 58 years he is survived by sons Harold (Rose) and Shurben (Laurie), grandchildren Carlyle (Sandy), Scott (Jenilee), Kimberly and Elizabeth; great grandchildren Dillon, Carley, Tori, Brody, Jessy, Emma and Rae-ann; brother Ross (Barbara), their children Todd (Jill), Yvonne (Rick), Luella and many great nieces and nephews. Lowell was predeceased by his parents, grandson John "Bucky" and nephews Clifford and Cecil.
A funeral took place at the Stoney Island Baptist Church July 27th at 2 pm with Pastor Wayne Crowell officiating. Memorial donations may be made to The Atlantic Cemetery in Stoney Island or any charity of choice.
