Webster
Passed peacefully away at home in Gander, on July 29, 2014 Georgina Webster (Webbie), age 86 Predeceased by her parents Nellie & George Johnstone of Monkton, Scotland, husband William (Bill), brothers Bertie, Hugh and sister, Betty. Left to mourn with loving memories are her son, Derek (Linda) of Gander, sisters, Margaret and Blanche of Ontario, Ella, Isobel and Netta (Brian) of Prestwick, Scotland, step grandson Jarrod, a large number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Born in Monkton, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1927, Ina, as her family called her, was the 6th oldest of 9 children. She was a proud, independent, hardworking woman and loving Mother who faced life’s challenges with dignity and determination. She moved to Gander some time ago to be with her only child, Derek and died as she wished, as independently as her health would permit. “From an early age, my mother taught me the important values of a strong work ethic and sense of integrity that have guided me throughout life. She sacrificed much during her life to provide me the opportunity to be successful in mine. I know she was very proud of me and I feel extremely fortunate to have had such a loving and supportive mother throughout my childhood, life and career. Thank you Mum, I will miss you!" A great debt of gratitude is owed to the many healthcare workers, extended family and friends who helped make her final years more comfortable and enjoyable. To Dr. Carmel Casey, her nurse, Lillian and palliative care nurse, Greg Banfield, for their continual dedication, support and compassion. To Janet, Sheila, Chelesa & Samantha her dedicated personal ‘Homecare’ family, whose day to day support, patience and assistance was truly remarkable. She certainly appreciated and loved you for it! Webbie loved flowers and gardening. Memorial donations may also be made in her name to the Newfoundland & Labrador Lung Association or the Healing Gardens at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, through the Central North East Health Foundation
