HENDERSON, JUNE LENORE - On Tuesday, July 29, 2014, our mother June Lenore (Estey) Henderson passed away peacefully at the Nashwaak Villa, with her family by her side. She was born on July 5, 1928 in Lower Durham, NB, daughter of the late Douglas Estey and Victoria (O’Neill) Estey. Mom lived her life of 86 years in Upper and Lower Durham. She taught school on a local license in Lower Durham, Zionville, Upper Gagetown, and Henderson Settlement where she met and married our father the late Glendon Stuart Henderson. They lived in Upper Durham, raising eight children. When her children got older, she returned to work at the Ross Drug in 1975. She retired from there in 1992. June was a life member of the Upper Durham Women’s Institute, a member of the United Baptist Church and a founding director at The Memorial Temperance Union of Upper and Lower Durham. June is survived by a sister, Lorna Estey; her children, Lana (Steve) Wortman, Lorelei Henderson, Barry (Dane Morris) Henderson, John (Lisa) Henderson, Melody (Fred) Donaher, and Gay (Ed) Cochrane. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and brother, Lyle Estey; two sons, Douglas Stuart and James Glenwood, and her daughter, Lorna Joy McShane. We would like to thank the staff at Nashwaak Villa for their loving care of our mom. We feel it was because of them she had a real home, we will be forever grateful.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Alison MacLean officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons, Adam Clarkson, Billy Donaher, Bradley Daniels, Glen Daniels, Zach Cochrane and Jacob Cochrane. Interment will take place in Upper Durham Cemetery. A Reception will follow in the Women’s Institute Hall. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Nashwaak Villa, Upper Durham Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice.
