Fred Wesley Embree

CHAPMAN SETTLEMENT – Fred Wesley Embree, age 92 of Chapman Settlement passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 28, 2014. Born in Chapman Settlement he was a son of the late James and Clara (Weeks) Embree.
Fred served with the Canadian Army Medical Corp During WWII. He owned and operated the family farm and was employed in the lumber and steel industries throughout the Maritimes and Newfoundland. He was a member of the Lorneville United Church, a member of the Cumberland Antique Car Club and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Amherst Branch # 10. Fred enjoyed family gatherings, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, the former Jennie Weeks; daughter, Gloria Goodwin (Lloyd) of Baie Verte, NB; sons, James (Edna), Ralph (Sally) and Bob Trenchard all of Chapman Settlement, Larry (Linda) of Tidnish Bridge, NS; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by sisters, Cassie and Cora; 3 brothers, William, Clarence and Douglas.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777). Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, July 31 from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 2 pm, from the funeral home, Ruth Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the Baxter Cemetery, Lorneville. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Fred may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
