NEW GLASGOW – Anne Catherine McGee, 94, of New Glasgow passed away peacefully early Monday, August 4, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of Dennis and Bess (MacDonald) McCormick.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Anne grew up in New Glasgow and was very involved in her community; president of her graduating class and became the women’s champion at the Abercrombie Golf and Country Club. She graduated from Mt. St. Bernard, and then moved to Big Island with her husband, Albert McGee, to start a family and raise their children. After moving back to New Glasgow, she was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devoted member of the St. John’s Parish. Anne is remembered for her great sense of humor, positive outlook and her love of life.
Surviving are her son, Dennis (wife Jane (MacLean)), daughter, Mary (husband Jim Delaney), and five grandchildren: Julia, Leanne and Colleen Delaney, and William and John McGee.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert McGee, and her brother, John McCormick.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church on Friday August 8, 2014 at 11 a.m., with Fr. Gary MacPherson presiding and luncheon to follow. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lismore.
Donations may be made in Anne’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society, or charity of choice.
Anne touched many lives, and we will miss the smile on her face and the sound of her laughter.
