Sackville, N.B.- It is with sadness, but peace of heart, that the family of Audrey Lorraine Butcher, announce her passing on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville. Audrey was 85 years of age.
Born on April 28, 1929 in Sackville, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Eleanor (Sears) Hicks.
Audrey was a life-time member of the Anglican Church Women, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion, Branch #26, Sackville, a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and the Air Force Association Women’s Auxiliary #105. Generations of children grew up knowing the joy of her unconditional love, as well as her bottomless cookie jar.
Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her children, Vicki (Dennis Cormier), Charlie (Judy), Janice (Ron Fahey), Ruth (Willie Boyle) and Allison (Andy Wilson) as well as by her “adopted” daughter, Gladys (Sears) (Robert Estabrooks); her brother, Arlington Hicks; her sister, Geraldine McIntyre; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. Audrey also leaves behind countless other children and grandchildren of her heart.
Besides her parents, Audrey was pre-deceased by her husband of 50 years, Charles Butcher in 1997; sisters, Shirley and Olga and by her brothers, Conrad and Lawrence.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at the Four Corners Cemetery in Middle Sackville, N.B. with Diocesan and Lay Reader Kandice Cann officiating. Following the graveside service, all are invited to attend a reception at 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall in Sackville.
