Higgins, Thelma Delores – 83, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Born April 6, 1931, in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Florence and Fred McCarthy. A special “thank you” to Dr. Neil Bower, Dr. Henderson and the palliative care nurses for their wonderful care. She was a humble and respected lady who enjoyed music, friends and family. She had a smile that would melt your heart. She is survived by her children, Brenda (Nelson Angers), Ricky Higgins (Elaine), Debbie Higgins (Steven), Dianna (Willard Richardson), Derrick Higgins (Carolyn), Darren Higgins, Karen (Colin Pickles); daughter-in-law, Lisa Julian. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Walsh, Quispamsis, NB. She will be missed by her sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and also her special friends at Arcadian Apartments on Blanchard Avenue and loved by all who knew her. She is predeceased by sisters, Beatrice, Albertha and Muriel; brothers, Tommy, Alfred, Foster, Jackie, Freddie, Melvin and also her favourite sister-in-law, Helen McCarthy. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11 from 1-2 pm followed by a celebration of her life at 2 pm, Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Interment to follow at Terrace Hill Cemetery, Kaulback Street, Truro. No flowers by request. If so desired, donations may be made in memory of Thelma to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
