BURNS Donald Wallace, - Age 79, of Yarmouth passed away at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on August 5, 2014. Born in Kingsport, N.S on April 27, 1935 he was the son of the late Oscar and Vivian (Porter) Burns. Donald was a graduate of Acadia University and taught school in Canning and Yarmouth. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Organization, member of the Brooklyn Bright Lights Seniors Club, and in his spare time enjoyed playing bridge. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Forbes) Burns; daughters, Dianne (Michael Wile), Curry’s Corner; Elizabeth (Larry) Richard, Grand Prairie, Alta; sisters, Laura Gilbert, Ajax, ON; Helen Burns, Kingsport; and grandchildren Sylvie and Jocelyn Richard. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D “Bill” Newell and Rev. Shawn Kehoe officiated. Interment followed in Brooklyn Cemetery.
