WAGG, LAWRENCE “LARRY” DELBERT - Mr. Lawrence Delbert Wagg “Larry” passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 6th, 2014 at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born in Saint John on September 18th, 1923, son of the late Herbert and Della (Ewart) Wagg. Larry retired as Chief Inspector of the Drug and Morality Squad of the Saint John City Police Force after having served many years in the Forensic Dept. During his 32 years of dedicated service with the Saint John City Police Dept., he worked closely with the RCMP and was proud to help protect the community of Greater Saint John. Larry was a strong Christian and dedicated family man and was a long-time member of the Carleton-Kirk United Church. A veteran of the Second World War he served with the 8th Canadian Princess Louise Hussars, serving in North Africa, Italy, Holland and the front lines in Germany. Larry is survived by his wife of 69 years Jean Patricia (Cradduck) Wagg; two sons Dr. Christopher (Kathy) Wagg of Chattanooga TN, Thomas H. Wagg of Boston Mass.; four grandchildren Marc Wagg (Sanaz Gerami) of Fredericton, Jill Roberts (Lionel) of Saint John, Jeffrey Wagg of Houston TX and Christie Jean Wagg of Fredericton; two great-grandchildren Jack and Alex Roberts of Saint John. Also survived by nephews Lawrence Maxwell and Douglas Maxwell, and their families.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Jessie Maxwell; his brother Cecil Wagg; two nieces Elizabeth Wagg and Mary Louise Wagg.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th, 2014 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 will conduct a Legion Service at 7pm August 8th. A Funeral Service will take place from the Carleton-Kirk United Church at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 9th, 2014. Interment to follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery. Remembrances made to the CNIB, Carleton-Kirk United Church Elevator Fund or to the charity of donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
