It is with sadness that we the family of Annie Stacey announce her passing on Aug. 6, 2014, at the Palliative Care Unit, C.B. Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Mira Ferry, N.S. July 17, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Donald John and Christy (Lamond) MacIntyre.
A resident of Louisbourg for many years and for the past 14 years she lived at Williston House, Sydney.
Annie was a member of First United Church, Louisbourg, and life member of the UCW, the Louisbourg Piece Makers Quilter’s and active for many years in the community. She was well-known for her beautiful handwork, wonderful cooking, and generous hospitality.
For a number of years she owned and operated the Fleur-de- Lis Tea Room and worked in Furnishings Interpretation at the Fortress of Louisbourg. After retiring she and her husband opened the Stacey House B&B.
Annie is survived by a son, David (Lorraine) Stacey and daughter, Charlotte (Dick) Sutherland; grandson, Colin (Joy) Stacey, granddaughter, Kelly Stacey, and great-granddaughter Isabelle; grandson, Charles (Jennifer) Sutherland and great-granddaughters, Bronwyn, Meredith, Carys; granddaughter Jennifer Sutherland; special nephews, Duncan (Janette) Beaver, Darryl (Geraldine) Beaver and their families. Also many other nieces and nephews and their families and brother-in-law Frank (Jean) Stacey.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles H. Stacey, five brothers, Angus, Donald Hughie, John L., Alex and Lauchie and six sisters, Effie, Katie, Sadie, Mary, Florence and Effie Anne.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug 8 from 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, Alexandra Street, Sydney with funeral service to be held Saturday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. at First United Church, Louisbourg with Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating. Interment in Harbour View Cemetery. Reception to follow at Union Memorial Hall, Mira Ferry.
Family flowers only. Memorials may be made to First United Church, Louisbourg, The Window Fund Union Presbyterian Church, Mira Ferry or the Palliative Care Unit, C.B. Regional Hospital.
