John Ronald Dunn, of Bay Street, Whitney Pier, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Whelan) Dunn.
John served in Germany with NATO. He was a member of Holy Redeemer parish, the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and life member and past service officer of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 128, Whitney Pier. John was employed with the City of Sydney, from which he retired.
Surviving are his daughter, Melissa (Butch) Hawco, Sydney; sisters, Josephine 'Daisy' Dunn, Brantford, Ont. and Myrna (Simon) Gillis, Sydney; brother, Frank (Sandra), Sydney and sister-in-law, Maxine, Calgary, Alta.
John was predeceased by his wife, Lois (Richardson); sisters, Mamie and Anne and brothers, Phil, James, Thomas 'Rory' and Robert.
There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church on Saturday 10 a. m., with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
