Donald Nicholson

Passed on: August 6th, 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald F. Nicholson of South Pinette at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at the age of 91 years with his family by his side. Donald was the son of the late John and Ethel (MacEachern) Nicholson. He was pre-deceased by his infant son, John Kevin, and by the love of his life, Olive Finlayson (2006) whom he greatly missed every day. Donald was most content listening to or telling stories with his family and friends. His heartfelt laughter during a good story will forever be remembered. Donald was greatly aware and interested in all aspects of the lives of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his children: Clifford (Ina), South Pinette, PEI; Donna (Doug), Riverview, NB; Linda (John) Visser, Victoria, PEI; and Sharon (David) Groom, Summerside. Grampy's love will be missed by his grandchildren: Ryan (Pam) Scott; Sarah (Joey) and Alexander (Jill) Macdonald; Josh (Deb), Jordan (Amanda), Keirsty and Cameron Visser; and Lindsey, Zach (Dylynn), Branson, Spencer and Taylor Groom as well as his precious great-grandchildren Corbin and Seth. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and by his friend Michael Judge of New Jersey. Donald was the last surviving member of his immediate family. His brothers and sisters were very dear to him and their passing left a great void in his life. They were: Charlie (Donalda) Nicholson, Jessie (Neil) MacKinnon, Mary (Malcolm) Ross, Malcolm Nicholson and Kay Watts. Also pre-deceased by his brother-in-law Robert (Pauline) Finlayson. Resting at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home, with visiting hours on Friday, August 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, at 2 p.m., from St. John's Presbyterian Church, Belfast. Interment to take place in the adjoining cemetery. Donations to Belfast Cemetery would be appreciated. Condolences, words of comfort, and remembrances of Donald may be shared with the family at www.fergusonlogan.com

We sat by our Dad
For the time that we had
