It is with great sadness the family of Christina Burke announce her passing on Aug. 4, 2014, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Issac and Sadie (Fraser) Rich. Christina was an honorary member of the former St. Agnes C.W.L. and was very devoted to her church.
Her hearts delight was her summer home on the Mira where she enjoyed swimming and entertaining friends and family members. She also enjoyed playing tarabish with her friends. Her family was very important to her and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her daughter Joanne (Wade), Halifax; sons Winston (Rhona), Lingan and Warren (Rose), Mira. Also grandchildren Ray, Ronnie, Donnie, Warren, Wyatt, Michael, Jennifer, Gavin; great-grandchildren Brittany, Colton, Allyssa, Matthew, Aiden and Madison. She is also survived by her sister Judy.
Besides her parents, Christina was also predeceased by her husband Frank, son Wesley, daughter Debra in infancy, great-granddaughter Barbara, daughters-in-law Barbara and Donna, sisters Jessie, Bernice, May and Theresa, brothers Sonny, Stan and Murray.
At this time the family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Hugh and Butch MacKenzie, Pam Bailey and Linda Knox for being there for our mother and taking such good care of her.
Cremation has taken place and visitation will be Sunday, Aug.10 from 6-9 p.m. and a celebration of Christina's life will be on Monday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue, New Waterford with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery followed by a luncheon in the parish hall, Convent Street. All are welcome.
As an expression of sympathy for Christina, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
