Arnold Dubray
April 5, 1925 – August 6, 2014

Arnold Dubray, late of Saskatoon, SK, formerly of Prince Albert, SK passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK on August 6, 2014 following a brief illness. He was a man with a strong faith and it is a source of comfort to his family to know that he has reached his Eternal resting place. He is survived by his wife Ruth, his son Barrie (Elaine), his daughter Beverley (Richard) Folkerson, and his stepson Tim (Donna) Castle, his grandchildren: Jason, Michelle and Craig Dubray, Darryl (Ashley), Lisa and Leanne Folkerson, Michael and Erin Castle; his brother Howard (Janice), his sisters-in-law Norma and Edna and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his two aunts Nellie Baun and Marjorie Bird. He is predeceased by his parents Louis and Emma Dubray; his wife Genevra; his stepson Jim Castle, his sisters Ruby Dubray and Pearl (Orville) Amonson; his brothers Bill, Lester, Dale and an infant. Arnold began his life on the family farm in Hagen, SK. He enjoyed growing up as part of a loving family: riding horseback, helping with harvest, and enjoying life in an active rural community. He attended Harmony School, the same one-room school as his parents and all of his aunts and uncles. As a teenager, when times were tough on the prairies, he stayed behind to look after the farm while the rest of his family moved to New Westminster for work during the winter. He married Genevra Amonson in 1950 and they began life together in Prince Albert. Family camping and fishing trips throughout Northern Saskatchewan, and vacations to Western Canada, California and Europe are cherished memories. The family cabin at Christopher Lake has been the centre of fun times with family and friends for many years. Replacement of the original cabin this past year marked the completion of his dream of leaving a new cabin for future generations to enjoy. He married Ruth Castle in 1976 following the passing of Genevra Dubray in 1974. He worked as a letter carrier until retirement in 1989. After which, he spent many hours golfing at Spruce Home and participating in seniors’ curling. Arnold and Ruth moved to Saskatoon in 2009. They have enjoyed life in a wonderful community at Circle Drive Place and Circle Drive Special Care Home where Ruth presently resides.
