With saddened hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our loving sister, aunt and friend, Eileen Brown. Eileen passed away at her home on Aug. 7, 2014, with her family at her side.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Martha (MacLeod) Brown. She was a former member of St. Michael’s parish, River Ryan and more recently, a member of St. Leonard’s parish, New Waterford.
Eileen left the New Waterford area many years ago and settled in Calgary, Alta. While living in Calgary, for the next 30 years, she made many new friends and worked as a caregiver at a senior’s lodge. Eileen was a very outgoing person; she enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards. She also enjoyed playing guitar and singing and this got her invited to countless house parties.
Eileen is survived by sisters, Sheila (Nick), Evelyn, both of New Waterford and Ella of Ont.; brother, Frank (Alice), New Waterford; three nieces, three nephews, several cousins and close friend, Shirley MacDonald.
Besides her parents, Eileen was also predeceased by brothers, James and Frank in infancy; partner, Hazel Clarke and best friend, Ralph.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A funeral service officiated by Deacon Leo Penny, will be Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford with interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. Following the interment there will be a reception at St. Leonard’s Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
As an expression of sympathy for Eileen, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or a charity of choice.
