It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Susie Dixon, 89, on Aug. 8, 2014, at Buchanan Memorial Hospital in Neil’s Harbour.
Born in South Harbour on Aug. 28, 1924, Susie was the daughter of the late David and Mary (MacDonald) Daisley.
Susie enjoyed walks with her loving husband, as well as quilting and reading. She was a loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; it was spending time with her family that gave her the most pride and joy. “Mom,” “nanny,” you are loved so very much, you will be deeply missed and your memory will live forever in our hearts.
Susie is survived by her ever-devoted husband of 63 years, Archie Dixon, the love of her life and her six children, Agnes Engels (Henk), Gerard Dixon (Nina), Edna Cherry (Mike), Gary Dixon (Simone), Jackie Slade (Robert), Parnell Dixon (Kim); 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Susie is also survived by her sister, Melba Asseff (Walter).
Susie was predeceased by sisters, Mary Davis, Lillian and Cassie and brothers, Norbert, John Alex, Douglas, Joe and Charlie Daisley.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Buchanan Memorial Hospital and the Highland Manor for the excellent care and compassion they have shown their mother.
A celebration of her life will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Church in Dingwall, with Fr. Lazarus Guria officiating.
No flowers by request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Buchanan Memorial Hospital, palliative care.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home.
