It is with great sadness that we the family of Russell Scott, announce his passing on Aug. 8, 2014.
Russell was born in North Sydney on Jan. 22, 1943, a son of the late Samuel and Margaret (Tobin) Scott.
He worked as a pipe fitter for many of his younger years and is a retired member of Local 682 Pipefitters Union.
Russell loved to travel, he was an avid walker, but most of all Russell loved his family who he always put ahead of himself.
He leaves behind his cherished wife of 50 years, Harriet (Shepherd) Scott, his daughter Audrey Grace (Lloyd), his son Christopher (Helene) Scott; his beloved granddaughter, Bowie Marina Scott, who in the first few months of her life, put a renewed sparkle in his eye for the last few months of his.
Russell is also survived by his sister, Patsy (Dave) O’Quinn, brother, David (Jodi) Scott, sisters-in-law, Ellen Bugden, Hazel Johnston and brother-in-law, Charles Shepherd, also numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss uncle Russell.
Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by three siblings in infancy, his father and mother-in-law, Aaron and Elizabeth Shepherd, sisters-in-law, Marion Cadden, Winnifred Buffett and Etta Shepherd, brothers-in-law, Robert Cadden, Arthur Buffett, Trevor Bugden and Fred Johnston.
Visitation will take place Monday, Aug. 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, from St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Northside Harbour View Hospital Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
