Passed on: August 13th, 2014

NEW GLASGOW – On August 13, 2014, Bertha Bernice “Necey” Law (nee Ball), 67, of New Glasgow, absolutely surrounded and uplifted by the love of her family, passed peacefully on.
Born in Alder Point to the late Keith and Bertha Ball, Necey was a proud Cape Bretoner who valued family and faith above all else. Throughout Necey’s life, she held the positions of entrepreneur, server, nurturer, artist, creator, educator, caregiver and friend. Being Nana to Brandon, Maddie, Kasey, Bryden, Jesse, Gwen and Mikey was her greatest joy, and she supported all of her grandchildren’s endeavours and adventures. From sports stands and concert seats to first jobs and broken hearts, Nana’s voice was always the loudest, the most loving and the most proud. Bernice was fortunate to enjoy and be a part of friend circles who valued her heart, humour, compassion, candor and strength. She especially valued the communities of St. George’s Anglican Church and Alcoholics Anonymous.
As well as by her parents, Bernice was predeceased by brothers: Alphonse, Stuart, J. Gerard (in infancy), and Charlie; as well as son-in-law, Mike.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 47 years, Al Law; children: April Law, New Glasgow; Stephanie Hemmings (Carl), Merigomish; Buddy Law (Allison), Stellarton; her seven beloved grandchildren; brothers: Joseph Kacevychius (Marie), Sydney; Jed Ball (Valerie), Balls Creek; sisters: Louise Gillis (Jack), Balls Creek; Stella Gallant (Adrian), Moncton; sister-in-law, Ann Ball, Balls Creek; in addition to generations of nieces, nephews and cousins. Though now and ever desperately missed, Bernice will be remembered with love through good laughter and great stories.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of choice.
