It is with heavy hearts that the family of Russo Christopher Payne (Nov. 8, 1944 – Aug. 4, 2014) of Rocky Harbour, announce his sudden passing on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at the age of 69 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Marie, nee Nicolle; his three sons Christopher (Theresa Hanton), Shawn (Sherry) and Kerry (Regina); his grandchildren Carla, Tara, Russo, Adam, Scott, Sara, and Ethan; his brothers Mike (Brenda), Joe (Marion), Elia, Walter (Joanne), Dwight, Elwood (Pam), and Howard (Karen). Also leaving to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends. Russo was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Annie Payne, and his brother Gary Payne, and his sister-in-law Jean. Russo was the owner of Harbour Seafood in Rocky Harbour, which he has operated for more than 30 years. Supporting the community giving to various organizations, he was known locally and internationally as a kind and generous, giving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was known for his strong bold personality, kind and soft heart, a pillar of the community and will be missed by his loving family and a multitude of friends. The family received family and friends at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Rocky Harbour on Wednesday and Thursday, from where also the funeral service was held on Friday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Canon Louise Richards officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery in Rocky Harbour.
