It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our son, Blair Dwayne McCormick of Glace Bay as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Abbotsford, B.C. on Sunday, July 13, 2014.
Born in Glace Bay, Dwayne was the son of Blair McCormick (Susan) and Mary Petrie (Brian).
Dwayne loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He cared for all animals; especially his cat. But mostly he will be remembered as a very compassionate man. Dwayne was a painter by trade. He loved hockey and was an avid Edmonton Oilers fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him; especially his family.
Dwayne is survived by his brother, Sheldon (Sherry); grandfather, Austin McCormick, nieces, Emma, Jessica, nephew, Cameron, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Also left to mourn his passing are his many friends in British Columbia, his special friend, Rose Bertolo and close friend, Dave.
Dwayne was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Ila and Roy Gormley and paternal grandmother, Mary McCormick.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. followed by a prayer service with Rev. Leo Boone presiding at 8 p.m., both in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
