It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family of Sandra Long of Sydney announce her passing on Aug. 15, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, following injuries sustained in a recent fire in her home.
Sandra was born Sept. 27, 1947 to the late Earl and Agnes (Campbell) MacMullin, Sydney Forks. Remembered and loved by her son Warren A. Maroun (Andrea Schlupp) of Whitehorse, and sisters Earlene (Bill) Gill, Thelma Nurse, Marilyn MacMullin, and brothers Jackson (Susan) MacMullin, Warren (Barbara) MacMullin, and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her husband Felix Long, her brother Edward MacMullin, and brother-in-law Ron Nurse.
In her early years Sandra was a trusted and valued employee at MacIntyre Chev and Kenmount Ford. She volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross, which she truly enjoyed. Sandra was a very kind and generous person, noted for her willingness to lend a helping hand. She always enjoyed the company of family and friends.
The family extends sincere appreciation to the valiant efforts of the EHS Paramedics, Mira Road Volunteer Fire Department, Cape Breton Regional Police, and staff at Cape Breton Regional Hospital Emergency Care, Nova Scotia Life Flight, and the QEII ICU Unit 5.2 for the phenomenal care that was provided to Sandra.
Visitation will be 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21 at Chant’s Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating, reception to follow.
