KENNETT, WILLIAM - William Herbert John Kennett passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Carleton Manor in Woodstock. He was born in Talgarth, Wales, UK on February 11, 1915 and was the son of the late Herbert and Adeline Kennett. He was predeceased by his first wife, Kathyrn (Bell) Kennett in December of 1977; his son Jeffrey Kennett; brother, Trevor; sisters, Irene, Katie and Carrie. William went to school in Wales and then immigrated to Canada with his parents, two younger sisters, Olive and Irene, and his younger brother, Trevor. The family settled in Tracy Mills, NB on a farm near the US border. William worked as a farm hand to help support the family. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (1940-1945) and was stationed in Ontario and Quebec as an Aero Engineer Mechanic with the rank of Sergeant. On November 24, 1945 he married Kathyrn Bell in Florenceville, and they had two sons, Robert and Jeffrey. He started trucking, and then later built Kennett's Diner in Florenceville. Following that, he moved to Connecticut for five years. Returning to Canada, he became a Customs Officer, serving in Bridgewater and River De Chute. Following the death of Kathryn, William remarried Dorothy Henderson in December of 1978, and they lived in Bristol. He also worked part time for Carleton Mutual Insurance. William is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kennett of Bristol; son, Robert Kennett of Fredericton; daughter-in-law, Eloise Kennett of Jewett's Mills; grandchildren, Kaleb Kennett, Kyle Kennett, Carly (Mike) Nickerson, Wesley Kennett, Quinton Kennett, Makayla Kennett; great grand daughter, Kaelyn Nickerson; sister, Olive Thomas; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21st at L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Road, Florenceville-Bristol, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the Florenceville Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Price and Pastor Charles Thompson officiating. Interment will be in the Bristol Community Cemetery.
