ROBERTSON, KAREN ANN - 1949 - 2014 - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Ann Robertson on August 17, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous and determined battle with cancer. Karen (née McTiernan) is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Jean (Doumont) McTiernan, sisters Lynda (Faye) of Ottawa and Maureen Best-Glenn, and her niece, Melanie Jo Best, all of Minto, New Brunswick. She is survived by her loving husband, Don, her children Andrew (Jenna Hurst) of Ottawa and Stephen of Calgary, Alberta, her sister, Mary Ellen (Gary) Kilfillen of Waterborough, New Brunswick, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Karen was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. After graduating from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Saint John, NB, in 1970, she spent 40 years of her life doing what she loved: nursing at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in PICU. Karen made many friends wherever she went. She was a champion of the underdog, and always stood up for what she thought was right. She definitely had the gift of gab, and loved nothing better than being surrounded by people. These were some of her many gifts. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of those who cared for and supported her throughout her lengthy illness, including her many friends, neighbours and various medical staff.
Family and friends may pay respects at Divine Infant Parish 6658 Bilberry Drive, Orleans, ON., Thursday August 21, 2014 at 12 p.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 1 p.m. In memoriam donations to the CHEO Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family. www.kellyfh.ca
