Camiles "Millie" Dempsey

DEMPSEY, CAMILES "MILLIE" - Camiles "Millie" Beatrice Dempsey peacefully passed away on August 22, 2014, at Bobby's hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Millie was born on April 18, 1940 in Saint John, NB to the late Arthur Alchorn and Beatrice (McQueen) Alchorn. Millie spent most of her working career at the Loch Lomond Villa, in the housekeeping department. After retiring from the Villa, Millie and a good friend started their own cleaning business. Millie enjoyed planting flowers and tending to her vegetable garden. She also cherished the visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Millie looked forward to her outings and visits with her sisters. She was always offering a helpful hand to anyone in need. She was always there for her children and grandchildren as she was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Millie is survived by her two sons; Curtis (June) and Kevin (Glenda) of Saint John, NB and daughter Wendy Dempsey (Tom) of Saint John, NB and daughter-in-law Lorraine Guimond of Quispamsis, NB. She is also survived by her brother Leonard Alchorn (Beverly) of Saint John, NB along with her three sisters; Joan Filmore (Charles), Helen Boyle, and Barbara Finley, all of Saint John, NB. Millie will be sadly missed by her eight grandchildren; Vicky, Kimberly, Crystal, Christopher, Corey, Ryan, Joseph, and Jason along with her 13 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-laws Leona Alchorn and Marie Alchorn.
Besides her late husband, Leander Dempsey and her parents, Millie was predeceased by her brothers; Arthur, Murray and Bonnie Alchorn and great-grandson Jaxon Dempsey.
Arrangements are under the professional care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB. Millie will be resting at the funeral home on August 25, with viewing from 2pm to 4 pm and 6pm to 8pm. A celebration of her life will take place on August 26 at 1:00pm at the Fundy Funeral home Chapel, with a reception to follow there as well. Interment will follow at the Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Millie Dempsey may be placed to the Bobby's Hospice or charity of choice.
