January 25, 1926 - August 24, 2014. Passed peacefully away, in the Palliative Care Unit of the L.A. Miller Center, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her loving husband Doug Gosse; and loving son Douglas; parents John and Catherine; sisters Florence Caul (Hubert), Amelia Sutton (Clyde) ; brothers Dennis, Joe, John, and sister-in-law Rita; son-in-law Joseph Penton. Leaving to mourn her children Marie Rich (Richard) Janice Gosse, Wallace (Rose), Catherine Morrissey (John) and Alma McNiven (Curtis); sister Catherine Organ (David); Brothers George (Millie), Alfred (Shirley), Wallace (Laura), Clarence (Joyce), Elmer (Sara) and Chris (Daphne); Sisters-in-laws Barb Sutton, Catherine Sutton and Bernadette Sutton; 12 beloved grandchildren Dawn Penton (Winston), Janice Vardy (Edward), Angela Penton (Jaime), Rochelle Cullenton (Dave), Carol Ayers (Doug), Laura Halliday, Martin Gosse (Angie and Martin's mother Mary Thorne-Gosse), Jonathon Gosse, Stephen Morrissey, Mariah Morrissey, Jeremy McNiven, Victoria McNiven; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends, including her CWL and WI friends. Mary began her teaching career at 16 in Head, Baie d'Espoir when no other teacher was available. She went on to teaching in many one room schools and finished her teaching career at the School for the Deaf. She continued her love of education by translating for the deaf in church and introducing the Children's liturgy to the Holy Trinity Church in Torbay. Her retirement years were spent working in her beloved garden, enjoying time spent making crafts and especially spending time with her large family. Visitations to take place at Caul's Funeral Home Torbay on Monday August 25 from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. and on Tuesday August 27 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place at Holy Trinity Church Torbay at 10 a.m. on Wednesday August 28, 2014. Interment to follow at the R.C. Cemetery Bauline Line.
