Keith Randall Love
May 2, 1926 – August 20, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Keith Randall Love, son of Ephraim and Edith (nee Fraser) Love, was born May 2, 1926 in Prince Albert, Sask. He grew up in Steep Creek helping his father on the farm. Keith got his hard work ethic from his mother and perhaps his love of mechanics and wit from his father. His first motor was in a motorcycle that came in a box and he was hooked on motors ever since. As a young man, Keith custom grain hauled in Steep Creek for many years. Dad loved it as it was a chance to meet all the neighbors and socialize which he loved to do, and the hard work was never a problem. Keith met his future wife, Maria (Mary) Hendrika Folmer in the district. They were married July 16, 1952 and began their life together farming in Steep Creek between the two homesteads. Keith and Mary worked hand in hand, always together, on the farm. Joy was brought into their lives with the arrival of their first son Dean. They were again blessed three years later with the birth of their second son Howard. Besides raising a family and farming, Keith loved berry picking, fishing in the river and ice fishing. He was also fond of hunting ducks, geese, and deer. Keith always had to be doing something. His passion was his shop and farm machinery including several tractor and combine restorations. One of his greatest joys was visiting with friends and neighbors and lending a helping hand whenever he could. He loved to play cards, and go dancing with Mary. Keith and Mary enjoyed traveling, when they could fit it in around farming. Keith and Mary have two granddaughters and two grandsons that they enjoyed visiting often. Keith especially loved to have the grandchildren visit the farm. For the last eight years Keith and Howard farmed together doing what he loved. Keith was active on the farm, helping Howard, until the end. Keith passed peacefully in his sleep in Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert, at the age of 88. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary; his children: Dean (Heather) Love of Prince George, BC, and Howard (Joanne) Love of Saskatoon; Granddaughters Darcie (Casey) L’Heureux and Amanda (Nick Babiak) Love; Grandsons Robin Love and Bretton Love; Great grandchildren: Tyson, Jordyn, Caleb, and Maddox; Sister Jeanette (Charles) Peifer; Sister-in-law Grace Love; Brother-in-law Bert Folmer, Sister and Brother-in-law Dorothy and Alastair MacIsaac, and many nieces and nephews. Keith was predeceased by his parents Ephraim and Edith Love; his brother Glen Love; sister Nora Love; brother and sister-in-law Dick and Rose Folmer, and sister-in-law Beverly Folmer. The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p .m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Grays Funeral Chapel, 575 - 28 Street W, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. Private family interment will be held at Steep Creek United Church cemetery.
