Amanda Armstrong

ARMSTRONG, AMANDA - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Amanda Armstrong on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont UHC, wife of the late Harry W. Armstrong of Moncton. Born October 17, 1923 in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mable (Bourgeois) Bourque. She is survived by one brother-in-law, Ernest Bourgeois of Moncton, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters and brothers-in-law: Géraldine LeBlanc (Fred), Alfreda Richard (Emery), and Eva Bourgeois; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Edouard Bourque (Madge) and Georges Bourque (Doris). Before her marriage in May of 1950, Amanda was an employee of J.A. Marven’s Ltd. Much of her life was devoted to the care of her family. She always put the well-being of others before herself. Her niece Janice (René Landry) would like to thank the staff of the Notre-Dame Manor for the loving care shown to her during her nine years stay and also the staff of the Villa Providence in Shédiac where she resided during the last four months of her life. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the remarkable personnel of the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. The loving care shown towards their patients is truly exceptional.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 10:30 am. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 9:30 am until time of funeral. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Amanda, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (palliative care or cancer research) would be appreciated.
Little Did We Know
Little did we know that morning that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, you are always on our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same. But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
