WHALEN, Rose Ada -KENTVILLE
Rose Ada Whalen - 98, of Kentville, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Charles "Fritz" and Ada (Timms) Walter. She founded the Kentville Answering Service, along with a number of alarm services, operating for 20 years. She received special recognition from the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department and the Hiawatha Lodge, Kentville and in 1978, she was presented with the key to the Town of Kentville. She also received a certificate in Home Nursing. She was a member of the Canaan Good Neighbour Club and a former member of the St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge, Kentville. She is survived by her family, Bernie and Louisa Cooper, Kentville; Gary and Roseann Misner, North Alton; niece, Sylvia Robertson; nephews, Earl Hiltz, Chad Hiltz and Gordon Sencabaugh; other extended Whalen family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; sisters, Alice, Betty and Josephine. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014, Reverend Barbara Durling officiated. Burial took place in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the Canaan Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
