Teresa Luck

Passed on: August 24th, 2014

LUCK, TERESA (EDGAR) - Teresa (Edgar) Luck passed away peacefully, with family, on Sunday, August 24, 2014, after a brief illness, at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home in Saint John, NB. Born in Chester, England on December 6, 1917, she was a daughter of the late George and Agnes Edgar. Tess was briefly a novice in the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary religious order before serving in the British Army (ATS) as Lance Corporal for the duration of WWII. She proudly wore her service medals each Remembrance Day. Following the war she immigrated to Australia subsequently returning to the UK for ten years before immigrating to Canada. A resident of Saint John since 1964, Tess was employed until her retirement in 1982 with Pascal Emerson Ltd. In retirement she was recognized for her many years of service to the Saint John Housing Tenants Association, actively working with Municipal and Provincial Government members to improve life for tenants and especially seniors in public housing. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Pius X Parish. Tess enjoyed time spent with family and friends, reading, coffee at Tim’s and a glass or two of wine. She maintained her sense of humour and independent nature to the end. Her only regret was not being able to travel back to England in recent years. She was predeceased by her parents, her older sister, Katie (Sr. Michael Edgar OSU, South Africa), and her estranged husband Stanley Luck. She is survived by two younger sisters Elizabeth Lambert and Angela Crowe both of Chester, England; three children, Catherine Bent (Greg) of Halifax, Gerald Luck of Saint John and Richard Luck of Singapore; grandchildren Colin, Allison, Adam, Jeremy, Jennifer, Shannon and David; great-grandchildren Alyssa and Daven, Carter and Charlie; niece Muriel Hoffner (Sebastian) of London, UK; great nephew Douglas and great niece, Madeline and other extended family members, including Ian Luck and family. “Gran” will be greatly missed by all. Special thanks to wonderful family friend, Adelaide Rodgerson for her regular visits. The family appreciates the care and attention of the Staff and Volunteers of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home over the past five years.
