NASE, WILLIAM EMERY - The death of Bill Nase occurred on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a period of failing health. Born June 16, 1921 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Harold and Marion (White) Nase. Bill enjoyed being active, especially when he had the chance to go golfing or bowling. He was a member of Westfield Golf and Country Club and Riverside Golf and Country Club, Westfield Senior Golfers’ Bowling League, KV Old Boys Bowling League, Probus, and the Saint John Executive Association. Bill served as a pilot instructor in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1939-1946 before his career as an Insurance Adjuster. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and his large family. Bill is survived by his soulmate, Marilyn Machum; daughter-in-law, Ruth Nase; son-in-law, Tom Davis (Janet); grandchildren: Jennifer Norris (Julian), Philip Nase, Jamie Davis (Arleen), and Jeane Fyfe (Rick); great-grandchildren: Peter and Geoffrey Norris, Anna and Ellie Davis, and Will and Reece Fyfe; his special cousin, Ann Drummond (Thane); and several nieces and nephews. He was Grampy Bill to 19 Machum grandchildren, and is also survived by Marilyn’s children: Greg Machum (Ann), Lauren Cosman (Mike), Geoff Machum (Kim), and Grant Machum (Jane). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Appleby); son, Bill Nase; daughter, Pat Davis; and sister, Betty Scott. The family would like to thank Dr. Sutherland, and the nurses and staff of the GEM Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424. At Bill’s request, there will be no formal funeral service, however friends are invited to join the family in remembering Bill at the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 4 to 6 pm.
