CAMPION: Meryl Wilma age 89 years, of Swift Current, SK passed away on August 20, 2014 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The Memorial Service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from First United Church with Barbara Wiebe and Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The organist was Patti McCleary, the pianist was Sharon Veer, the soloist was Joyce Olesen, and the eulogy was read by Pastor Linda Hall. The urn bearers were Kyle Christopher and Jabin Unger. Meryl is survived by her daughter Dianne; son Dan; granddaughter Marianne (Rick) Christopher and their children Kyle and Tiffany (Justin); grandson Phil (Dawn) Unger and their children Karly and Jabin; grandson Mike (Brandy) Unger and their daughter Ally; brother Howie (Barbara) Powell and their children Morgan (Faye), Jeffrey (Kathy), and Evan (Jackie); sisters Janey Hoogeveen and her children Cheryl (Elwood), Scott (Gerry), and Doug (Sue); Kathleen (Ed) Schwab and their children Randy (Deb), Sandra (Tim), Karen (Terry), and Patti (Brad); nephews Ron (Cathy), Glen (Cathy), Rob and Brent Myhr; as well as numerous cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Jenkin and Isabelle Powell; husbands James Tache and Ralph Campion; brother Graham; sisters Frances, and Gaylynne; nephew Bart Powell; sister-in-law Ruby Myren; brothers-in-law Peder Myhr, Willy Hoogeveen, and Allan Holbird. Meryl attended Wayne Valley School by Lancer and Luther College in Regina. She married her first husband James Tache in March 1944 and her second husband Ralph Campion on July 18, 1949. Meryl worked at the P.F.R.A., Bill Chews Modern News, City Police Station, and in the Land Titles Office. She was a founding member of the S.P.C.A., secretary of the Boy Scouts, a member of the sewing group and birthday club, the U.C.W., a member First United Church and member of Grace United Church. Meryl enjoyed playing Scrabble, playing cards, sewing and knitting, and bird watching. She lived a full life until her eye sight started to fail 5 years ago. She had many good memories at Cypress Hills Park where all our families spent time at our cabin, as well as the trips bird watching with Gaylynne and her cousins Gwynne and Elaine. Her main focus was on the animal welfare in Swift Current until her passing. At the end she enjoyed her great granddaughter Tiffany cats George and Taz. Rest in Peace Mum!
