Alfred Blodgett

Passed on: August 25th, 2014

BLODGETT, Alfred Walter, passed away Aug 25, 2014 in Swift Current, SK. Alf was born May 24, 1946 in Cabri, SK, the forth of six children born to Clarence and Edith Blodgett (Murch). Dad left home at the age of 15 and began working in construction in the Kindersley area. Dad then moved to Swift Current where he worked as a gas attendant/mechanics helper. This is where he met, married and started a family with Betty Blodgett (Darling). Just a few years later, he began work at Sam's Trucking, this move turned out to be his lifelong career, 32 years of working in the oilfield business. Dad knew every highway and back road, if you followed his directions, you never got lost. After Alfred and Betty separated, they continued to raise their family together. Gatherings with family and friends were an important part of Dad's life. Dad was a friend to many, and friends were family. In 1988, Dad met Donna Carignan (Smith). Dad considered Donna's large family and extended family his own. Dad and Donna shared a passion for camping and fishing, which they did every time they got the chance. In the summertime we always knew where to find them. They would be anchored at Lac Pelletier, sitting in the back of the boat, under their umbrella, with their fishing rods in the water. Once the sun went down they would be sitting around the campfire telling fish tails with friends, and tipping back a few. Dad was also very proud to be a 40 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Swift Current. Alfred is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Blodgett, Deanna (Randy Whitford), also their mother Betty Blodgett. His step daughters, Carolyn (Blair Peterson) and Monique Myers. Treasured grandchildren, Emma, Tucker, AJ, Ambra, Jesse, Kayla, Mariah, Melody, Arianna and Natasha. Great grandchildren, Josh, Jasmine, and Kendall. Brothers, Harvey (Judy) Blodgett, Harold (Doris) Blodgett and Lawrence (Laura) Blodgett. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Alfred is predeceased by his wife Donna Carignan (Smith), 2011, father Clarence Blodgett,1968, mother Edith Blodgett (Murch), 1979, nephew, Warren Blodgett, sister Beverly Tuchscherer (Blodgett), 1991, sister Judy Brilz (Blodgett), 1989, brother-in-law Gordon Brilz, 2009, brother-in-law Joe Tuchscherer, 2013, and step daughter Deborah Potter (Carignan), 2013.
