Dolly Evans

EVANS, DOLLY (HENRIETTA BLANCHE WRIGHT) - It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Dolly, wife of the late Harry Evans, in her home at Kings Way Care Centre on Friday, August 29th, 2014. Dolly was born on March 15th, 1913 in Pleasant Point, the only child of John and Sarah (Crawford) Wright. Her mother passed when Dolly was nine days old and she was raised by her father with the help of her Grandma Wright, Grandma Crawford and her two aunts, Hess (Henrietta Wright) and Blanche Crawford. Dolly spent her life loving and caring for those closest to her, beginning when she left high school in grade 11 to keep house for her father, uncle and to care for her ailing aunt; then marrying Harry and adding four children to her care, as well as tending to her grandchildren as they came along. She lived almost her entire life in West Saint John, and proudly resided at Carleton Kirk Seniors’ Complex for 27 years where she enjoyed bingo, cards and many other activities, until her move to Kings Way in Quispamsis eight months ago. Dolly lived a long and full life and throughout her years, she touched the lives of many people and had many friends who she charmed with her good nature and wit, adding a little feistiness that she kept right until the end. Left to mourn are her three loving daughters; Connie Dalzell (David), Lynda Abric and Lois Sprague (Wayne), her daughter-in-law Peggy (Bishop) Evans, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a niece. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Brian, granddaughter Lisa and sister-in-law Hazel Fleming. The family are very grateful to Dolly’s extended family at Kings Way, not only for the excellent care and attention she was provided, but also for the dignity and respect she was always given.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, with visitation on Tuesday, September 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
