It is with heartfelt sadness that the family, announce the peaceful passing of their sister, aunt, Lee Landmeyer, on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Lee was born in Windsor, Ont., Nov. 4, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ellen (Karlsson) Austin.
She married John Landmeyer in 1956 and they enjoyed a happy life together for 45 years. They operated the chip wagon for 20 years at the bottom of Charlotte Street. Lee moved back to Sydney from Montreal in 2003.
Lee is survived by her sisters, Mary Matheson, Sydney, Ingrid Gillis, Amherst, Annie MacKenzie, Spragg, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Catherine Spino, Montreal, Irene Andrews, Sydney, Mary Woo, California and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John (February 2001); brothers, Robert, Maurice and Karlsson Austin and her sister, Roberta Pike.
There will be a reception held Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel, with a prayer service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery, Glencoe, with Rev. Bernie MacDonald officiating.
Memorials may be made to palliative care or charity of choice.
