Alphonsus (Foncy) Edward Careen

It is with profound sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Alphonsus (Foncy) Edward Careen, age 65, at his home in Point Lance, St. Mary's Bay, surrounded by loving family and friends. Foncy was a very hard worker, dedicated to his work and family, and very respected by all who knew him. Although he went long before his time, he lived a very full life and we are so thankful for the many fond memories we shared with such a wonderful, honourable man. Foncy is predeceased by his grandfather Edward F. Careen (Neddy Frank), his stepmother Elizabeth Careen (Maudie), his good buddy Johnny McGrath, his father-in-law Gerard Careen and stepfather Augustine Nash. Left with cherished memories are his devoted wife Bernadette who stood by his side every step of the way for the past 47 years; his children Derek (Rhonda), Denise (Dave Noel), and Donna (Terry McGrath); his 6 grandchildren who he so fondly adored, Riley, Ava, Owen, Daniel, Taylor and Michael; his mother Sadie Nash; his Aunt Agnes Careen; brothers and sisters Margie (Charles), Annie (Francis), Gussie (Marie), Al (Monica), Janet (Lorne), Ambrose (Mary), Bob, Jeanie (Tim), Ed (Margie), Wanda (Walter), Melvin (Lenora), Calvin (Mabel), Terry (Angie), Anne (Raymond) and his very special sister Edwina (Donald) who stood by his side and supported him right to the very end. He also leaves behind a very large circle of friends and extended family with lifelong stories and memories of wherever he roamed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Manning's Funeral Service. Resting at Mary Queen of Peace Church, Point Lance, with visitation at 7:30pm - 10:00pm on Tuesday, September 2nd, 10:00am - 10:00pm on Wednesday, September 3rd, and 10:00am - 2:00pm on Thursday, September 4th.
