McClellan, Thelma Gertrude – 89, Bible Hill
We are sad to announce the passing of Thelma Gertrude McClellan, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, loving aunt, sister-in-law and friend on September 2, 2014. Born in Bar Harbor, Maine in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Zelda and Eugene Strout and stepdaughter of the late George Stanley. Thelma was an awesome mom and grammie. She loved her 95 grandchildren more than anything. She was an avid church goer and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed crafts, family get-togethers and hockey. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Perley Almer; children, Perley “Butch” (Jeannie), Joyce Arsenault-Nelson (David), Richard (Edna), Barb Webb (Larry), William (Linda), Malcolm (Nancy), Danny (Laurie), Angie Wood (Danny), John (Wanda), Roger (Leslie); sisters, Dorothy Bogue, CT, Joan Staples, NY, Judith Anne Hammond, Ellsworth, ME; brothers, John, California, Robert and Elmer, both of Maine; sister-in-law, Hazel McClelland, Bible Hill; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Paul; brothers, LeRoy, Kenneth, James and Charles, all of Maine. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 5 from 1 pm until time of the funeral service at 2 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Pastor Scott Penner officiating. Reception to follow. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Truro Alliance Church Building Fund, Kidney Foundation, V.O.N. or charity of choice.
