David Fowler

Fowler, David Harold – 72 of Alton peacefully passed away September 2, 2014 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with his family by his side. Born in Amherst on August 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Harold and Gena (Brown) Fowler. David worked in the construction field all his life retiring from Defense Canada Construction Ltd. as a building inspector for DND. His favorite pastimes were camping, fishing, spending time with his family and bowling with the Middle Stewiacke Bowling League until he was no longer able to do so. He attended the Middle Stewiacke United Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Shirley (Chapman) Fowler; sons, Paul (Tanya) Fowler, Brentwood, Harley Rafuse, Alta., Melvin (Adrienne) Rafuse, Alta., Shawn Fowler, Truro and Ryan (Laurie) Fowler, Truro; daughters, Krista Brown, Truro, Shelly (Gar) Benvie, Truro, Misty (Scott) Cooke, Brookfield, Tracey Fowler and Tia (Chris) Stevens, Millbrook; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon (Richard) McLean, Bible Hill, Sheila (Steve) Fraser, Truro and Cynthia (Charles) Cox, Truro; brother, Hal (Krista) Fowler; many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his companion and best friend, Zena. David was predeceased by brother, Brian Fowler; sister, Eleanor Gray as well as a daughter at birth. A special thank you to the 3rd floor D-Wing at CEHHC as well as the V.O.N. No visitation by request. A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 2:00 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
