H. Ernie Lund

Lund, H. Ernie of Truro passed away on September 3, 2014. He was born in Eastern Passage on December 28, 1919. Ernie proudly started his career with the RCAF which took him to Europe and throughout Canada. He spent three years in France working for NATO in Mosselle before moving back to Canada in 1960. Ernie’s final career was with Industrial Estates Limited where he was the driving force behind the creation of the Debert Industrial Park, retiring in 1989. Though Ernie retired, he never stopped working. Some of his many volunteer positions included President of Crime Stoppers, Lieutenant-Governor of Kiwanis, President of the Truro Chamber of Commerce, President of the Halifax Board of Trade and others too numerous to mention. Ernie was a longtime member of Markland Masonic Lodge #99 AF & AM, Kingston. Ernie finally slowed down and enjoyed spending time at his family cottage in Malagash. He worked tirelessly his whole life to serve his country, his province and his community. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lenore Audrey (Garrard); his parents, Fred and Hazel Lund; his sister, Shirley (Dr. James R.) Brown. Ernie is survived by his daughter, Kathryn (Michael) Saxton; his three grandchildren, Mike, Ames and Kait. He loved and was dearly loved by his family and friends. He will be sadly missed. Visitation followed by funeral service and reception to be held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro on Monday, September 8, at 6:00 p.m. Interment to be held on Tuesday, September 9 at 11:00 am at Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro.
