DAVENPORT, GERTRUDE JESSIE (KNORR) - Gertrude passed away peacefully on her 95th birthday at the Oromocto Public Hospital in Oromocto, NB on Thursday September 4, 2014. Gertrude was born on September 4, 1919 in Central Blissville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Peleg and Violet (Carr) Knorr. She was married to the love of her life Marcus T Davenport for 69 years. Mom was a school teacher in Sandbrook and in Fielding, Carleton County where she met our father and they were married in 1941. Gertrude belonged to St. Lukes Anglican church where she taught Sunday School. She loved to quilt, embroider, read and do crossword puzzles. Gertrude is survived by her three daughters: Sandra (Jim)Devenney of Fredericton Jct, Judy Charlton of Hoyt, Lynn Butler of Fredericton Jct, five sons: Vaughn (Darlene) Knorr of Burton, Eugene (Madeline) Davenport of Burton, Michael (Carol) Davenport of Fredericton Jct, Randy (Debbie) Davenport of Central Blissville, Terry Davenport of Central Blissville, one brother: Lee Knorr of Gagetown,one sister in law Margaret Knorr of Digby NS along with twenty grandchildren, several great grand children, two great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her daughter Sharon Davenport, one sister Agnes Miller, two brothers: Shirley and Robert Knorr and two sons in law Donald Butler and Harry Charlton.
Friends and family are invited to public visitations at Sunbury Funeral Home on Sunday September 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday September 8 at 11:00 am at St. Lukes Anglican Church in Hoyt, NB. Interment will take place at St. Lukes Cemetery, Hoyt. NB. For those who wish, donations can be made in memory of Gertrude to St. Lukes Anglican Church, White Rapids Manor Mini Bus or to the charity of your choice.
