Warrena 'Warnie' Farmer

Born In: Sydney

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: September 5th, 2014

It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Warrena 'Warnie' Belle (Chappell) Farmer at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at the age of 93.
Born and raised in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Belle (Ritchie) Chappell.
Warnie, or "Gram", as she was best known to her family, had a long, full and adventurous life moving across Canada from Sydney to Dartmouth, to Montreal, Que. and Coquitlam, B.C. with her husband, Walter; daughter, Deborah; son-in-law, John; and grandson, Jeremy. Her travels came full circle in 2007, when she returned to Sydney with her family to be closer to her cherished great-grandson, Owen.
Gram will always be remembered for her great sense of style, sharp wit and fierce love for friends and family, especially Owen, who brought her such great joy. She will also be greatly missed by her cousin, Vance McCormick, as well as, Anne and Charlie Long and Mary and Leonard Bond.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Walter; daughter, Deborah (John) Bond; grandson, Jeremy Bond; granddaughter, Kimberley (Charles) Long and great-grandson, Owen Chappell Long.
Besides her parents, Warnie was predeceased by a sister, Joyce, in infancy.
In keeping with Warnie's wishes, there will be a private family memorial service and no visitation.
Donations in memory of Warnie can be made to the Cape Breton Down Syndrome Society.
With love, all things endure, for though they may pass from this earth, they live on in the hearts of those who have loved them.
Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or email sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
