New Glasgow - Ruth Livingstone (Pushie) Fleming, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Glen Haven Manor in her hometown of New Glasgow. She was the youngest daughter of Andrew and Josephine (Condon) Pushie. After graduating from high school, Ruth was employed by the Royal Bank in New Glasgow for 39 years. Throughout her career, Ruth was highly regarded by clients and colleagues. Ruth was a member of the Presbyterian Church, attending Westminster, First Presbyterian in Stellarton and most recently, St. Andrew’s in New Glasgow. She was involved in the Ladies Aid Society. Ruth was a member of Golden Link Rebekah Lodge for over 60 years, having served as Noble Grand. Ruth loved playing cards, especially bridge, dressing in the latest fashions, reading, staying abreast of current affairs and the companionship of her cats. However, her greatest joy was derived from spending time with her many friends and attending family events. Ruth is survived by nieces: Janice (Donnie) Goguen, Kirkland, Quebec; Jo-Anne (Jack) Matheson, Sackville; Lynn (Gus) Fahey, Westville; Andrea (Milton) MacKenzie, Pictou; as well as grand nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Willard Whitman Fleming, sister, Marie and brother Elston. Ruth’s family wish to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the many staff members of Glen Haven who provided excellent care, demonstrated patience, love, and concern for Ruth’s well being throughout her last two years. Visitation 7-9 pm Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
