WADDELL, DOROTHY JOAN (LEVERMAN) - June 3, 1930 – September 6, 2014 - Dorothy Joan (Leverman) Waddell passed away peacefully at Protem Health Services on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the age of 84 with her beloved family by her side. Dorothy was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 3, 1930 to Donald and Mary (Kehoe) Leverman formerly of Brigus, NL. Dorothy and her husband Jim, lived in Halifax, Fredericton and Truro before finally settling in Moncton in 1966 with their five children. Dorothy and Jim were active members of Holy Family Parish. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed international radio, shopping with her daughters and a glass of wine with friends and family. Dorothy is survived by son Michael (Nathalie), daughters Linda (Bill) Waterfield, Beverley Nelson, Trish King, and Mary Waddell. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by grandchildren Corey Waterfield, Chelsea (Dan) Waterfield-Cox, Joshua and Victoria Nelson, Zachary and Jessica Waddell, and Katherine and Colin Williams and cherished great-grandson Ashton. A great-granddaughter is expected in October. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Jim in March 2014 as well as an infant daughter, brothers, Donald, Gerald and Charlie, sister, Patricia and son-in-laws Stanley Nelson and David King.
The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life reception at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 9 at 6 to 9 pm. A private family service will be held Wednesday, September 10 at 11am at Fair Haven. Interment of both Dorothy and Jim will take place on their 60th wedding anniversary, September 11, 2014 at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Lr. Sackville, Nova Scotia. The family would to thank the dedicated staff of Protem Health Services on Gorge Rd. for their tender care of our loved one on her final journey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Celiac Association. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Rd., Moncton (506) 852-3530.
