Dr. Ron Chalmers, M.D. – Truro
It is with deep sadness we announce that on Thursday September 04, 2014 Ron passed away in the Halifax Infirmary. Born November 30, 1942 he was the son of the late Douglas and Ivy Chalmers. He was also preceded by sister, Sherrill Davis. After graduating from Dalhousie Medical School in 1973, Ron served five years with the Canadian Armed Forces. In 1979 he settled in Truro and for the next 27 years he practiced family medicine at the Hilden Clinic. After retiring from family practice he spent seven years assisting in the OR at Colchester Hospital. For many years Ron was an active member of Ski Wentworth. He was a long time member and past president of Truro Golf Club. Ron is survived by his wife, Julie (Smith); daughter, Cathy (Chuck) Williams, Upper Tantallon; son, Scott (Pavita), Fort Myers, Florida and his much loved grandsons, Matthew and Ben Williams. Ron is also survived by his brother, John, Alberta; sister, Elizabeth (Bruce) Kelley, Petite Riviere, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral service will be held 2 pm, Friday, September 12, 2014 at First United Church, 711 Prince St. Truro with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the Truro Golf Club. Donations in memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or charity of choice.
