Hrycyna: Eileen Luella, age 83, of Swift Current, SK passed away on September 1, 2014 at the Swift Current Care Centre. The Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from Grace United Church with Reverend Ruth McArthur officiating. The organist was Leslie Oakman, and pallbearers were Wayne Bradshaw, Blaine Bradshaw, Fred Bradshaw, Corey Bowers, Brady McMillan, and Kory McMillan. The Interment Service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Eileen (nee: Bradshaw) Hrycyna was born on the family farm on April 11, 1931 near Arborfied, SK. She later moved to the village of Arborfield so that she could attend school. After high school she worked for the Bank of Montreal from 1949 to 1954. In July of 1954 she married Alexander Hrycyna. They spent the first six years in the town of Battleford, SK where Al taught school. In 1957 their son Brad was born. In 1960 they moved to Wynyard, SK where Al continued to teach school. In 1963 their daughter Paula was born. The final move was to Swift Current in 1965 where Al was employed to teach in the Swift Current Comprehensive High School until he retired. In each of these communities she was active in her church, playing the organ and volunteering for nearly forty years at Grace United Church. She also actively volunteered for the Cancer Society and Wellness Clinic. She was predeceased by her mother Matilda in 1953; father Fredrick in 1963; brothers Ira and his wife Margaret, and Floyd and his wife Mary; sisters Helen and her husband Fred, Myrtle and her husband Lloyd, and Marguerite and her husband George; and in 1991 her husband Alexander Hrycyna. Eileen is survived by her children Brad Hrycyna and Paula Bowers (Clark McMillan), her children Chris and Corey; 4 step-children, Mandy, Brady, Jessica and Kory. She spent the last five and a half years, firstly at the Prairie Pioneer's Lodge and then the Swift Current Care Centre, where she received excellent care. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all of her family and friends. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
