Peacefully at the Palliative Care unit, of the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, with her loving family by her side of Olive Mary Gavin of the Tignish Seniors Co-op Home and formerly of Anglo-Tignish, age 91 years. Born at St. Roch on May 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Margaret (nee Bernard) Peters. She was predeceased by her first husband the late Albert Arsenault in 1968 and by her second husband the late Romey Gavin in 1991. Lovingly remembered by her children, Marie (Kevin) DesRoches of Tignish; Wesley (Janet) of St. Edwards; Cecil of Anglo-Tignish; Linda (Fred) Doucette of Skinners Pond; Austie (Phyllis) of Nail Pond; Andrew (Angie) of Charlottetown; Brian of Anglo-Tignish; Connie Carragher of Tignish; Joseph (Anne) of Anglo-Tignish. She will be sadly missed by her 33 grandchildren and by her many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear sister Theresa Coles of New Castle, Ont., a sister-in-law Emilda Peters of St. Roch and son-in-Law Eugene Doucette of Ontario. She was predeceased by children, Janet, Albert Joseph, Donna Marie and Kenny Joseph, as well as siblings, Mae Richard, Emily Arsenault, Leo, Frank and Melvin Peters and by a son-in-law Eric Carragher. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Wednesday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Thursday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Palmer Road. As an expression of sympathy,memorials to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Tignish Seniors Co-op Home would be gratefully appreciated. The Tignish Council of the CWL will hold a prayer vigil at the funeral home Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m.
