It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Jerome McCarthy announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit on Monday September 8, 2014 at the age of 88 years. He will always be remembered by his 5 children: Wayde (Vickie), Robbie (Chris) of Ontario, Fay (Glenn) of Benoit’s Cove, Harold of Vancouver, Darren Patrick (Lisa) of Benoit’s Cove; 3 grandchildren: Stephen (Mahshid) of Ontario, Robert (Chantal) of Ontario, Austin (Reina) of Winnipeg; son in law Roy Ward of Winnipeg; sisters: Ceily Gallant, Bride Boland (Jim); brothers: Peter (Pearl) and Leo (Bella); sister in law Sue Alyward (Carl); brothers in law: Francie Joyce (Mary), Dave Joyce (Nina), Mike Joyce (Cindy); special nieces Lucy Sheehan, Bride Hickey, Janie Brake, and Jane Gallant; Special card game buddy Joe Connolly, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Sadie (2004), daughter Martha (2007), son Stephen (1954), parents Patrick and Martha McCarthy, brothers: Lawrence, Patrick and John; sisters: Theresa Hynes, Rita Hickey and Maude Dormody; brothers in law: Stephen Gallant, Edward Dormody, Frank Hickey and Gerald Hynes; sister in law Chris McCarthy, and special friend Mildred McCarthy (2013). Family will be receiving friends at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Thursday September 11, 2014 between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from the Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Parish, Benoit’s Cove on Friday September 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Sisters Donna Kelly & Mildred Chabassol. Interment to follow at Our Lady Star of the Sea cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made in Jerome’s memory to the Our Lady Star of the Sea memorial Fund.
